FAQs

  • What happens during my initial consultation?

Your initial consultation will consist of one or two digital radiographs and diagnostic photos followed by a thorough exam by Dr. Dunn. There are four essential questions that will be addressed during your exam:

    Is there an orthodontic problem?
What must be done to correct the problem?
How long will the treatment take to complete?
How much will the treatment cost?

  • How do I schedule my initial consultation?

If you are interested in scheduling a consultation with Dr. Dunn, please contact us by phone or email and we will be happy to help you schedule an appointment.

  • Will teeth straighten out as they grow?

Usually your teeth will not straighten out on their own without help. In addition, jaw growth can affect the bite in different ways but rarely improves spontaneously. Once the permanent molars erupt, the available space for teeth also tends to decrease with time.

  • At what age should my child visit an orthodontist?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an orthodontic screening at age 7 even if your dentist has detected no immediate orthodontic issues. By age 7, many permanent teeth have erupted, allowing us to effectively diagnose any orthodontic issues and create a treatment plan if necessary.

  • Do I need a referral from my dentist to schedule an appointment?

You do not need a referral from your dentist to schedule an appointment with Dr. Dunn. Many of our patients are referred to us by their dentist, but a lot of our patients schedule an appointment with no referral.
